Newsletter 20.01.2017

It has been sensory overload in F2 this week with the children enjoying bathing babies, washing boats, and experimenting with gloop, clay and floam. While exploring these different textures the children are broadening and learning new vocabulary to support their developing observational skills and also questioning.  This theme continued during Splash Pool sessions as the children experimented using water wheels.

The three carpet groups enjoyed their first ‘All About Me' show and tell time.  Each week different children will bring the bag home on Monday and choose a toy to share with their group on Tuesday.  Thank you Milky, TinTin and Bao Nhi for starting us off, great job talking about your toys and sharing them with the group.  We enjoyed looking and listening.

The creative area has been a hive of activity this week, with the children making Tet related crafts. The children are very proud of what they have made and we hope you will enjoy displaying their work at home, perhaps for many Tet celebrations yet to come :-)  Next Monday we will have a Tet Celebration activity afternoon, please read the posters attached for more information.

On Wednesday the children enjoyed our EYFS Sports Day at APP.  They participated in different physical activities, challenging themselves, developing perseverance, risk taking and sportsman ship skills. Thank you for supporting your children during this exciting event.

Next week is a short week with school breaking up for the Tet holiday on Tuesday 24th January.  We hope you have restful holiday and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 6th February.

Newsletter 13.01.16

Dear parents,

This week, we would like to welcome Coco in F2 and BIS. We hope you have many fun filled days with us.

As Tet is fast approaching, we started the week by turning our role-play area into a 'Tet homecorner'. Most of the children showed enthusiasm in exploring the resources such as tropical fruits, tet food and traditional Vietnamese costumes. This have been a popular area this week and the children have been singing to the songs Xuan Da Ve and Tet Tet Tet Den Roi.

In the creative area, the children have started making Tet decorations for our class and the hall. They made tet scrolls this week and busied themselves colouring a rooster template. In the outdoor area, the children have been practising the Tet lion dance. They have also been very good in using musical instruments such as drums, claves and xylophone.

In one of our carpet sessions this week, we have introduced our 'ALL ABOUT ME BAG'. This aims to help develop children's confidence in speaking within small groups. Ms Sara amazed the children with her special sword inspired by the movie Star Wars, Ms Precious had the children singing by letting the children use her favourite thing to use at home which is a mobile karaoke and Ms Claudine wowed the children with her fancy headband that does magic!

It has been a fun filled and busy week in F2!

Have a restful weekend everyone! :)

Ms Precious and the F2 team

Welcome back to term 2 at BIS!

What a pleasure it was to see our enthusiastic and well rested F2 learners back at school on Wednesday!  It’s with great delight that we welcome some new friends into F2; Akemi, Teddy, Kimberly, Hao, Bee, Phuc Luan, Bobo and Thanh Mai, we are so excited to have you join us, on our F2 journey of learning, this term.

The children have been regaling us with holiday tales for the last few days, it sounds like everyone had a fabulous break and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. The teachers had a lovely break too, and are refreshed and excited to begin this new, action packed, term.

Although it was a short week, we managed to fit a lot in.  The children enjoyed
having the opportunity to plan in all of our learning spaces; classroom, soft play room, fundino, splash pool and the big playground.  We also had our first library session of the term and music upstairs with Mr Jon.

The teachers gave the classroom a wee shake up over the Christmas break and the children have enjoyed exploring the same, yet slightly different, classroom environment.  Together we have been rediscovering different learning areas and making new friends.  The focus these past few days has been on settling back in and remembering our class routines, the children have particularly enjoyed helping our new friends out, showing them the F2 'ropes'.

Have a great weekend!
