Merry Christmas everyone!

Dear Parents,

What a way to end Term 1 with lots of Christmas activities and celebrations. The children had a great time during our Christmas party especially when Father Christmas came to surpise them! They were also brilliant during our party games. One of the games we played is called Musical Statues. They danced to the songs called 'Moves Like Jagger' and 'Gangnam Style'. They did so well! Just before home time, we've set up the mats, beanbags and couch so the children can get all comfortable and cosy, ready for our Christmas movie! They all watched with excitement and really liked the story 'Noddy Saves Christmas'.

Tomorrow is Minh Anh's last day in BIS. Please join us in wishing Minh Anh and her family all the best for their move to Australia.
We will surely miss Minh Anh and her family!

Thank you for your generosity and support during all the school and class events this term.

It's been an incredibly busy term and the children are in need of a good rest!  We hope you and your children have a safe and relaxing holiday.  We look forward to an exciting second term!

Please see below for some photos of Christmas activities this week.

Kind Regards,
Ms Precious and the F2 team

Seasons Greetings from F2!

The children did very well rehearsing in the Hall each morning this week, to bring to you “Get out, it’s Winter!”  We are very proud of all the children and the effort they put into learning their songs and actions.  I’m sure you’ll agree the show was wonderful.

F2 is well and truly embracing the spirit of the season. This week has seen the children developing fine motor skills and problem solving as they wrap presents for under our tree and trim Santa’s beard, as we continue our count down until the Christmas holidays.  As busy as Santa’s elves, the children have made decorations for the Hall and other little Christmas trinkets to sell at the Christmas Market on the 14th

To balance out all the Christmas excitement the children enjoyed burning energy in the soft play room, practising their agility as they played the beanbag game and testing their listening skills with ‘Ms Claudine Says’.  They also practised different ways to move their bodies; slithering on their tummies like a snake, rolling like a sausage, jumping with two feet like a kangaroo, and crawling on their hands and knees.  With all of our rehearsing in the Hall, the children also practised a lot of walking up and down stairs, holding the hand rail with one hand and working towards using alternating feet on each step.

Notices:

* Swimming – We apologise for the recent interruptions to our swimming sessions, the pool had to be emptied (unexpectedly), we appreciate your understanding.

* Class Christmas Party – F2 will be celebrating with a shared morning tea and games on Thursday 15th December.  Please sign up on the list outside F2, so we can ensure that there is a variety of snacks for the children to share.
The children are welcome to dress up in festive / party clothes if they would like.

*  Reports went home today, if you have any questions please have a chat with the teachers, we are more than happy to help.  Reports will be available for viewing on Tapestry on Monday.

* Library – Return books by Wednesday please.  The children will be choosing a book to bring home and enjoy over the Christmas holidays.

* Thank you for putting your Boxes of Hope under the Christmas Tree in the Foyer.  What a lovely way to teach your children about the spirit of giving at Christmas, I’m sure the children who get to unwrap these will be thrilled!

What have we been doing this week:

Christmas season has officially arrived in the F2 classroom! The F2 children were very busy this week preparing for our upcoming EYFS show called "Get Out It's Winter!", making Christmas decorations, learning and practising Christmas songs.

This week, the children also did activities about shapes and sizes. The children decorated a Christmas tree using basic shapes such as square, rectangle, circle and triangle. They also learned some Maths vocabulary such as big and small. The children enjoyed sticking and decorating their Christmas tree using different shapes! They also made apple juice with Miss Precious and we had it during our snack time. Yum! A big thank you to all the parents for coming to our EYFS Family Morning last Saturday!!

As part of our focus on Katy the Caring Dolphin, this week the children are learning how to take turns, play collaboratively, take care of our classroom resources and being kind to other children through group activities such as board games. This week, the children are supported and are learning how to play in a group through the different board games. The children enjoyed playing board games such as "Monster Muddle".

You better watch out! You better not pout! You better not cry I'm telling you why! Santa Claus is coming to town!!! F2 had a very special visitor and even dropped a special present for F2 this week. The children watched a special message from Father Christmas this week and was very excited to open Father Christmas' present which is a Christmas Tree! How exciting! The children had loads of fun decorating the Christmas tree with tinsels and Christmas baubles. We also started our countdown to the Christmas holidays and end of term break through our Advent Calendar.

The children have been working really hard as they sing, dance and practise for our Christmas production happening on 9th of December! The children have been singing different songs such as "Ten Tubby Snowmen", "We've a Snowman to Make", "Up on the Rooftop" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas".

What have we been doing this week:

This week, F2 children focused on learning Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme. We've started with introducing the words on Monday and the children were brilliant at repeating them! During our carpet sessions, we drew text maps to help the children learn the text better. Most of them have been asking to draw their pictures and are even singing their own version of Humpty Dumpty!
Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the kings horses and all the kingsmen,
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

As Christmas season is fast approaching, we have started practising the songs for our Christmas performance. The children are learning the songs Up On The Rooftop, Ten Tubby Snowmen and We've a Snowman to Make. We are very pleased to see that the children are able to quickly learn these songs. Please see the videos and song lyrics below so you can practice singing with your child/children at home.
